Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship should not only be considered as an area where people are encouraged to set up their own business, although this is an important aspect which should not be neglected as new start-ups are essential for a healthy economy and subsequent increased employment opportunities.
Entrepreneurship means being able to identify business opportunities, evaluate ideas by making sense of disparate information and taking action to implement novel solutions. This requires the skills of creativity, innovation and foresight.
Entrepreneurship is a key driver of economies. A high number of jobs are created in new businesses started by entrepreneurs. Being entrepreneurial stimulates creativity and maximises economic success – it’s what transforms ideas in feasible business opportunities.
There are social entrepreneurs, civic entrepreneurs and commercial entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurial behaviour is highly valued because it creates initiatives that challenge the status quo and trigger change to sustain and grow the organisation.
